The basis behind many of these studies was to find ways to improve how workers feel about their jobs so that these workers would become more committed to their organizations. Organizational commitment predicts work variables such as turnover, organizational citizenship behavior, and job performance. It is the employee’s pride and loyalty toward the organization. Managers need to pay attention to this attitude because loyal employees are less likely to quit their jobs and be absent from work. Employees with greater commitment also have higher work motivation as well as somewhat superior job performance.
