Whether going to a big company vs a small company;
Whether to go to a big company vs a small company, whether a big company or a small company is better, is the doubt many students encounter when looking for a job.
The truth is, there is no single path that will ensure faster career development and greater success. Of course, there are a lot of people who have had great growth experiences and greater success starting in big companies. However, many are not. Many people take advantage of the opportunities offered by small companies to take on more responsibilities and accelerate their growth. However, many people don’t get such a good experience in a small company.
As for your question, you need to treat each situation differently and evaluate each situation before deciding which situation will be more beneficial to your career development. For example, if you’re doing basic work at a top company, but that gives you a good foundation, key skills, strong expertise, and great achievements, there’s nothing wrong with that.
This is good for your growth and development. However, on a larger and more mature platform, you may need a little more patience to gain greater responsibility.
However, at some top companies, you may have very limited responsibilities that may be more task or process-oriented. Your exposure is also limited, and your work is pretty much the same. Or, you didn’t follow a strong leader, or the product line or business unit wasn’t that important to the company. So, even at the top companies, these conditions are not very attractive to stay in.
The situation is similar for small companies. Smaller companies may be more flexible and give you more responsibilities. However, if a company gives you too many responsibilities and you have little or no experience, then it’s time to think about the quality of the overall environment. The level of this company may be relatively low.
Therefore, you still have to assess whether a company has an experienced management team, a strong product, quality customers, and a solid track record. If so, the responsibilities you can get are valuable. But if the quality is lower, then even if you get bigger responsibilities, you can’t learn to perform those responsibilities well. Plus, your achievements aren’t very likely to impress future employers.
I mean, you want to avoid jumping to conclusions about whether a big company top company, vs a small company, provides better growth. It depends on what each environment can offer you. To better understand this, you need to look at the entire platform of the appraisal company, not just the job responsibilities. This is how you can identify and choose the right environment for your professional development and success.
