It appears as a red, scaly rash in a ring or circular shape, hence the name. Despite its name, ringworm do not caused by a worm but by a fungus. It can transmit through direct contact with an infected person or animal, or by touching contaminated objects or surfaces.
  4. Tinea Versicolor: This type of fungal infection stands caused by a yeast-like fungus called Malassezia. It typically affects the chest, back, and upper arms, and results in patches of discolored skin that may be lighter or darker than the surrounding areas. These patches may be more noticeable after sun exposure.

  1. Keep the skin clean and dry: Regularly wash the affected areas with mild soap and water, and thoroughly dry them afterward, especially between the toes and in skin folds.
  2. Avoid sharing personal items: Do not share towels, clothing, or personal items with others, as this can spread the infection.
  3. Wear loose, breathable clothing: Choose clothing made from natural fabrics that allow air circulation and reduce moisture build-up.
  4. Keep feet protected: Wear clean, dry socks made of natural materials and change them frequently. Avoid walking barefoot in public areas such as locker rooms, pools, and communal showers.
  5. Maintain a healthy lifestyle: A balanced diet, regular exercise, and adequate sleep help strengthen the immune system, making it more resistant to infections.

If symptoms persist despite home remedies or over-the-counter treatments, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment. With timely intervention and proper care, fungal infections on the skin can effectively manage and prevented from recurring.
